Great sites for people who have lost their jobs

30+ Websites to Visit When You Are Laid Off

Here are 30 websites (mainly American) aimed at people who have lost their jobs because of the recession in the USA. Ben Parr who wrote this blog post found websites for people and encourages people not to lose hope.

Perhaps by searching for jobs just to earn a little bit of money, finding support, getting information about jobs and the recession and even giving yourself a well earned break from searching for jobs and worrying all the time.

Perhaps attend a social networking function, find other people who have been let go or perhaps learn how to save the money you have now.

Women and online marketing

Here is a blog post about women who are Internet marketing in America. They are learning to power sell and teaching others to be entrepreneurs.

What's incredible about these women is that that they are mostly self taught. I love Rhea Perry, who teaches people how to make money online. Her website teaches about online marketing, starting and building an online business, selling on eBay, real estate and investing.

She believes in teaching an entire family and developing a business, investing, selling and growing as a family.

There are a lot of women on the Internet who have turned to online marketing who want to make money and have a full work/life balance.

On being genuine in business ...

Here is a blog which finds and blogs about Authentic Organizations.

As a newcomer to the business world and having been in marketing and communications for 4 years while working in an office for over 7 years before then, I can honestly say that I have developed my skills by following people like Richard Branson who really is authentic, innovative and enthusiastic and one of my favourite people Paul Arden.

Paul Arden was the Executive Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi for 14 years. Paul Arden truly was authentic and original. He thought, he constantly came up with ideas and he just came across as a true leader.

I loved his authenticity and his books which wanted to teach people to think the opposite. He was a self educated man, he was quite critical but he must have been an extraordinary man to work with. He truly believed in trying, in self educating, in taking risks and no matter how difficult he may have come across he was completely genuine.

He wrote two books and he really shares his own learning experiences by encouraging readers. I own both of these books and they have been incredibly helpful.

It was more important for him to try new things, to make hard choices, to not be sensible, to take the hard path ... then it was for him to be liked.

As a result, he was highly respected.

Australia Wide Appeal

We are all social creatures, we watch the news and when something horrible happens we react.

Over the weekend Victoria was hit with bushfires. It is still not known whether they were deliberately lit or whether the wind and heat caused the fire to sweep through towns and homes. Here is just one of the more recent news stories about the fire.

Over 100 people have died, hundreds have lost their homes and the rest of us are donating and giving blood.

I've donated some money to the Red Cross and I plan to donate blood as well.

A tragedy like this, puts things into perspective.

First Facebook

now Healthbook (or coming soon at least)

Healthbook is set to be a site for health professionals to track trends, out breaks and I suppose when and how many people get sick at a certain time and it's a chance for people who have something to communicate with others, swap advice, talk about their medicine.

I think it's a great idea.
